In 2023, I decided to start my own blog. While I have tried it a few times, I have not remained committed to it for a long period of time. Now that I am a tenured Amazonian and write a lot as part of my day-to-day activities, I am hoping that it will stick this time.

With a passion for music from a young age, I couldn’t think of a better way to start my blog than with this “An album for each year” challenge. Thanks for the idea, Werner Vogels.

The challenge rules are:

Only one album per year No repeat artists Putting together and finalizing the list took some time. As a result of my initial excitement about this challenge, I misunderstood it, and I created a list of 36 albums I love. An album for every year. Lots of jazz from the 50s and 60s, plus The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Kraftwerk, and many more. At some point my wife returned home and asked me what I was doing in the dark next to my music library. As I explained the challenge to her, I realized that I was doing everything wrong. Creating a proper list was even more difficult because 80% of the music I love ranges between the 50s and 80s.
